Puerto Princesa: The City in a Forest- Birthday Travel Day 1 City Tour

Hello there! It’s been a while since the last post. I have many things to write but I didn’t find time to do so. Please bear with my laziness and the annoying-slash-deceiving unlimited super slow internet connection in the Philippines that when you reach their allowable data plan your connection will be cut then it will return the next day. Sorry for the rant. Haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

Let me start my story now— we already booked our flight last year when there was a promo with Cebu Pacific Piso Fare. We have all the time to prepare our itinerary and look for the best package that will give us an extraordinary once in a lifetime experience. ๐Ÿ™‚ Luckily, my colleague was able to refer me a good travel agency which is a legit. I just gave them the places we wanna see and they will arrange it for you. ๐Ÿ™‚ No extra hassle on that matter!

It wasย our first time to ride a plane and I am so nervous so I kept reverting my thoughts into something else. ๐Ÿ™‚

Finally, after a year of waiting and hours of travel we already arrived to my dream place, the city in a forest Puerto Princesa, Palawan! ๐Ÿ™‚ I can still remember myself imagining living to this place and when I was asked why in Palawan I just don’t know maybe because even if I’ve never been in this place my heart knows it’s a beautiful place to live.

The airport there is not really as big as the airport in NAIA, it is easy to memorize so you will not be lost. Weย were fetched in the airport and we just stayed for a while in our lodge while waiting for our first activity in our itinerary which is the city tour.

Unlike any other tours that we availed, it was the first time that we had our tour guide. It was a good thing because they were able to tell us a lot about Palawan, trivias etc. Some of the tour guides were not originally from Palawan, they just transferred there for a work and since Palawan is a beautiful place they just stayed. ๐Ÿ™‚

PLAZA CUARTEL

This park is not just like our ordinary park in Manila. It is the restored ruins of an old garrison where Japanese soldier burned 150 American prisoners of WWII inside a tunnel and only 11 prisoners escaped the ill-fated event.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHEDRAL

Since Budz and I are both Catholic, we never missed to go to a Catholic Church in every place we visit. ๐Ÿ™‚ This church is so near to Plaza Cuartel.

BAKER’S HILL

We love everything from Baker’s Hill starting from the food, human life-size statues and beautiful houses inside of it. It’s so sad that we just have limited time to enjoy this alluring place. Baker’s hill popular pasalubong items are their hopias which I can sayย is not over rated because I usually don’t eat hopias but I loved the one they are selling. ๐Ÿ™‚

PALAWAN BUTTERFLY ECO GARDEN and TRIBAL VILLAGE

Interact with the butterflies and their native Palaw’an tribe that doesn’t speak Tagalog. The place was so suppressed that visitors were the only one creating the noise.

ย Meet the Palaw’an folks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Visitors have the chance to meet them and see how they live. A general knowledge is posted in the entrance area ย and state:

ย “Palaw’an is one of the many indigenous people of Palawan that have been living in the province for thousand of years. A few traits and trades have been preserved since younger generations are nw adopting to modernization. the Tribal Village is to preserve hose remaining traits and trades and by its Cultural shows. ย

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Visitors will get a rare chance to interact with these native people that still holds pure Palaw’an bloodline. Visitors will learn the Palaw’an way of hunting survival, handicraft making, daily life and even the Palaw’an way of hanging out.”

MITRA’S RANCH

For the nature lover, this place is also good as it offers super green scenery from above. There’s nothing much that you can do here aside from walking and sight seeing. ๐Ÿ™‚ It was the last place we visited from our City Tour Agenda. ๐Ÿ˜€

There are still more beautiful places that you can visit around the city, time was not enough but the experience it brought was awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚ And also before I forgot littering is strictly prohibited in Palawan. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Sir! I appreciate your time reading my posts! ๐Ÿ™‚ No we didn’t have enough time, the tour guide told us it’s far so instead of Crocodile farm they brought us to Tribal Village. ๐Ÿ™‚
